How to Make Temporary Tattoo with Perfume?

If you’re new to the tattoo world and want to experiment, I suggest you go for the temporary tattoo first rather than choosing the permanent one. Temporary tattoos are best if you not so sure about the designs and just want to express yourself artistically. Though every person has their own opinions, I personally recommend temporary tattoos first as I believe we should never do the things we will regret later.

Why Temporary Tattoos?

  • The temporary tattoos are not permanent in nature and last long only for a few days, so you have the option to choose some other design or artwork if you are not so satisfied with your current temporary tattoo.
  • The process of getting a temporary tattoo is very easy and any person can follow it while sitting at home. You don’t have to wait for your appointments with the tattoo artists and sit for long hours to get tattooed.
  • They are painless in nature and inexpensive.
  • You can get several tattoos according to the different occasions of your choices.
  • There is minimal risk of infection in temporary tattoos like scars, allergies, skin inflammation, and several serious diseases like HIV in comparison to the permanent ones.
  • They don’t act as a hindrance in getting any job.
  • The temporary tattoos can easily be removed by using the rubbing alcohol solution or nail paint remover and you don’t have to go for painful laser treatments for its removal.

Getting the Temporary Tattoo with Perfume

The alcohol-based perfumes are best for getting temporary tattoos as the alcohol works perfectly to keep the temporary tattoos for a longer duration of time. It’s not necessary as to which perfume brand you are using for the process, what matters is that your fragrance should be alcohol-based.

There are basically two ways of getting the temporary tattoo with a perfume; using a printer or a sharpie. I have experimented with both the processes and explained them briefly. Let’s scroll further to know the details.

Procedure with Printer

To get a temporary tattoo with a printer, you need to have the following things in your hands before starting the process.

  • Printer
  • High-quality printing paper
  • Alcohol-based perfume
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Scissors or cutter
  • Hot water bowl
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Things to take care of before the process

  • Clean the area where you want to have the temporary tattoo. Dry skin suits best for the application of temporary tattoos as the various body moisturizers and body oils act as a barrier in the application process. So, make sure you remove all these and make your skin super clear.
  • Shaving the skin hair is recommended before doing the process to give the tattoo a clean look on your skin surface.
  • Choosing the best spot for a temporary tattoo is very important. If the area of hands is chosen then there are chances that the temporary tattoo may fade away as the hands come in regular contact with the water, soaps, oils, food, etc. Also, the areas which become easily sweaty should be avoided. This is an exception in the case of henna tattoos which work well on the hands and feet where the skin is thick.
  • If your skin is highly sensitive avoid following this process as the mixture of perfume and ink can cause some allergic reactions like skin rashes, swelling, itching, etc.
  • Don’t apply the tattoo over a scar, allergies, and any other skin problem if you have else it will worsen your issue.
  • Not recommended for people who are allergic to perfumes and inks.

Choosing the design of the tattoo

The first step is to choose the perfect design. Millions of people around the globe have uploaded their unique artworks on the internet. You just have to google the best artwork for yourself. I choose many cute tattoos on Pinterest. Out of them, I choose a simple crown tattoo.

Taking out a print

After choosing the best design, I copied it on Word as I am not familiar with photoshop or several graphic software. I took the print. If you don’t have a printer at home, you can get the print from the nearby shop.

Cutting the print

Since the design would be print on the A4-size paper so it’s become inconvenient to soak it in perfume and hot water. So, the best thing is to cut the design out of the paper. I used a pair of scissors to cut the design out of the paper.

Application of perfume

After cutting out the design, I applied the perfume to it by keeping it away at least 6-inches from the design. Make sure to apply perfume on every part of the design as then only your design will be completely inked on your skin.

Soaking in a hot water bowl

The perfume soaked design should be dipped in the hot water bowl for 1-2mintues. In the meantime, clear the surface of your skin where you want to get this tattoo inked. Spray a small amount of perfume on the surface of your skin too.

Placing the design

After a few minutes, I took the soaked design out from the bowl and placed it in the desired place. Press the design on your skin tightly with your hands or with a hot rag. After 3-5minutes, slowly peel off the paper. Do it carefully so that your tattoo is not peeled off.

Apply the baby powder or talcum powder

After peeling off the paper, apply some baby powder or talcum powder on the surface to remove the extra oils from the skin.

Procedure with Sharpie

To get a temporary tattoo with a sharpie, you need to have the following things in your hand before starting the process.

  • Sharpie
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Alcohol-based perfume
  • Scissor or cutter
  • Tracing paper
  • Baby Powder or hair spray

Choosing the design of the tattoo

Just like the previous procedure, choose the best design for your temporary tattoo. You can easily google the design where millions of options are available for the tattoos. For tattooing using the sharpie, I choose a cute little butterfly tattoo from the internet.

Copy the design on tracing paper

The next important step is to copy the exact image of the design on tracing paper with the help of a sharpie. Make sure to copy it well so that you get a perfect design for yourself. If you are not good at drawing, you can simply take the help of any friend or family member. I personally recommend selecting a simple design so that it doesn’t become difficult for you to copy.

Things to take care of after the process

  • If you feel any skin allergy after the application, try to wash the area with cold water.
  • If you want to remove the tattoo before it naturally fades, you can do it by rubbing it with a cotton pad dipped in the rubbing alcohol or nail paint remover.
  • If you face any severe allergic reaction, it’s best to consult a dermatologist.
