How to Make Temporary Tattoo without Perfume?

The craze of getting tattoos is increasing day by day, especially among youngsters who are keen to experiment with different body modifications. If you are interested in getting the tattoos but not yet ready for the commitment then getting temporary tattoos are the best solution. Temporary tattoos are more convenient in comparison to permanent ones as they are inexpensive, easy, and can easily be modified as per your choice.

In my previous post, ‘How to Make Temporary Tattoo with Perfume?’ I have explained the methods of getting temporary tattoos with perfumes. So, if you don’t have perfumes or allergic to perfumes, then this article gonna show you the various methods that I followed for making a temporary tattoo without perfume.

Before the application, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • The area of your skin where you want to apply the tattoo should be cleaned properly. It should be done with the help of a cotton pad or cleansing wipes. Generally, the cleaning is done so that your skin becomes dirt and oil-free.
  • Always shave the area of your skin before applying the tattoo to give it a neat and clean look.
  • If you have many skin allergies, avoid getting these tattoos.
  • The areas of your body which come in regular contact with the water should be avoided for the application.
  • Not recommended for people who are allergic to inks.

Method 1. Using a sharpie and tracing paper without perfume

Requirements:

  • Sharpie
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Tracing paper
  • Scissors or cuter
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Choosing the design

The initial step in getting a temporary tattoo is to select the best design for the tattoo. You can google numerous designs online where millions of users have uploaded the designs on the internet or the other best thing you can do is open the profile of one of your best tattoo artists and choose the designs made by them. I generally advise the users to choose a simple design first if they’re getting temporary tattoos for the first time and simple designs are often easy to draw.

Draw the design

After choosing the best design, the next step is to draw the exact image of the tattoo on a piece of paper. Start with the simple design if you are not an expert in drawing. You can also take the help of any family member or friend in the drawing. Make sure you draw the exact image of the design as it will form the base of your tattoo.

Copy the design on tracing paper

Now, the next step is to carefully copy the drawing on the tracing paper with the help of the sharpie. You can further add some designs to the tracing paper if you wish to have them.

Clean the spot

Clean the surface of your skin where you want to apply the temporary tattoo. Always remember to shave the spot before the application to give your tattoo a neat and clean look. You can use a small amount of rubbing alcohol with the cotton pad to make your skin clear and wet.

Application of tracing paper

After following the above-mentioned steps, the next thing to do is to apply the tracing paper on the spot and press it with a hot rag. Carefully remove the tracing paper. Now you will notice a traced image of the tattoo on your skin. Now with the help of the sharpie, draw the traced image.

After drawing, apply some baby powder or hair spray so that the tattoo sticks to your skin.

 

Method 2. Using a Sharpie without tracing paper and perfume

Requirements:

  • Sharpie
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Scissors or cuter
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Selection of the design

Select the best design which you want to temporarily ink on your body. If you already have the idea, visualize the design and try drawing it on a piece of paper. Make sure you are an expert in drawing or you can take help from a family member or a friend.

Copying the design on the spot

It is always advisable to clean your spot before the application. You can do it by applying the rubbing alcohol to the cotton pad. Now, with the help of the sharpie, copy the design from the piece of paper to your skin by drawing it carefully. You can even add additional designs, shapes, and pictures as per your choice.

Apply a pinch of baby powder or sprinkle some hair spray on the tattoo so that the ink gets sticks to your skin.

Method 3. Using the printer without perfume

Requirements:

  • Design of the tattoo
  • Printer
  • Hot water bowl
  • Scissors or cuter
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Baby powder and hair spray

Design selection

Choose the best design that represents your personality. You can get numerous options online where you can go through several profiles of tattoo artists for choosing their artwork.

Taking out the print

After selecting the best design, take the print of the tattoo on the A4 size paper. If you don’t have a printer at your home, you can visit a friend or nearby shop to get the printouts.

Application of the rubbing alcohol

Sprinkle the small amount of rubbing alcohol on the area of the skin where you wish to have the temporary tattoo. Make sure your skin is properly cleaned before the application.

Soaking in the hot water bowl

The printout of the design should be properly cut and soaked in the hot water bowl for 2-3 minutes.

Apply the design

Take out the wet printout and place it on the spot where you want to have the tattoo. With the help of the hot rag, press the design against the skin for a few minutes (2-3mintues). Now slowly peel off the paper from the skin.

Your temporary tattoo is ready now. Apply some baby powder or hairspray on the spot so that the ink gets stick to the surface.

Method 4. Using the eyeliner without perfume

Requirements:

  • Design of the tattoo
  • Liquid eyeliner or eyeliner pencil
  • Tracing paper (optional)
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Apply the design

If you are good at drawing you can directly draw the design with the help of the eyeliner on the surface of your skin. You can even practice the design on the piece of paper before the final application. If not, don’t worry, you simply have to use tracing paper to trace the design on your skin. Since I am good at drawing so I directly applied the design to my skin using liquid eyeliner. Before the application, don’t forget to clean the spot using rubbing alcohol (optional) or simply with the cotton pad.

Additional designs

After the application of the design, you can add some beautiful additional designs to the original one to give it a more artistic look. Remember, if you don’t have liquid eyeliner or you are not so good at drawing then you can use the pencil eyeliner for the application.

Apply the baby powder or hair spray

After following the above-mentioned steps, now just sprinkle the small amount of baby powder on your tattoo or some hair spray so that the ink gets sticks to the surface.

Method 5. Using the eyeliner and liquid bandage without perfume

Requirements:

  • Design of the tattoo
  • Liquid eyeliner or eyeliner pencil
  • Tracing paper (optional)
  • Liquid bandage

For this method, you have to follow all the above-mentioned steps of method 4 till the additional designs. Now instead of using the baby powder or hair spray, just sprinkle the small amount of liquid bandage on the tattoo. This liquid bandage will help to stick the ink on the surface for a longer period of time. The liquid bandage is easily available in the medical shop. If you want to remove the tattoo, just use cotton pad nail-paint remover or rubbing alcohol to rub it off from the skin.

Method 6. Using the temporary tattoo paper

Requirements:

  • Temporary tattoo website
  • Printer or nearby printing shop
  • Sharpie or permanent marker
  • Hot water rag
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Open the temporary tattoo website

The initial step in this method is to open the temporary tattoo website on your laptop or PC. Once you google it, you will find several temporary tattoos websites on your screen. You can either choose to create your own design and upload it on the website or select the existing designs on the website. Once you do this process, make the payment and the authorities will email your selected tattoo design.

Taking out the print

If you have the printer at your home, simply give the command on the screen and take the print of the tattoo design. It’s is advisable to have a laser printer. If you don’t have a printer, you can visit a nearby shop to get good quality printouts.

Application of the tattoo

Cut the surrounding area of the design so that it becomes convenient for you to apply it on the skin. Always clean the spot before the application. Now put the temporary tattoo paper on the skin and press it by holding the hot water rag above it. Keep it in this position for 2-3mintunes. Peel off the paper after a few minutes.

Apply some baby powder or hair spray on the area so that the ink gets sticks to the surface for a longer duration of time.

Remember, all these temporary tattoos last only for a few days. Avoid getting in contact with the water so that the tattoo doesn’t get washed away. If you don’t like any particular design, you can easily remove the tattoo using the rubbing alcohol or nail paint remover on the cotton pad then thoroughly washing it with cold water.

 

Method 7. Using the henna tattoos

Requirements:

  • Henna temporary tattoos
  • Hot water bowl
  • Cotton pad
  • Baby powder or hair spray

Selection of the henna tattoo designs

In the nearby market, you will get several shops where temporary henna tattoos are available. If you don’t wanna go to the market, you can google the various sites selling henna tattoos at a minimal price. Choose the best design for yourself. If you are ordering it online, it may take a few days to reach your place.

Cutting of the tattoo

Once you get the sheet of the temporary henna tattoos, cut it in the shape of your hands or feet. Do it carefully since it should not cut your design. You can even take the help of a friend or family member to cut it perfectly.

Apply the tattoo

Now stick the trimmed sheet of the henna tattoo on the surface of your hand or feet. Make sure to clean the spot properly using the cotton pad. The henna tattoo has to be stuck on the surface by using wet cotton pads. Press the wet sheet for 2-3 minutes on the surface.

Carefully peel off the wet henna sheet from the surface. You will notice that the henna design is stick to the surface properly. In case, you want your ink to stick properly for a few days, you can apply the baby powder on the surface.

 

Method 8. Using the natural wet henna paste

Requirements:

  • Natural Henna Powder
  • Warm water
  • Natural ingredients like coffee, beetroot, gooseberry
  • Piping bag
  • Scissors
  • Vaseline or balm
  • Lemon juice
  • Sugar

Buying the packet of natural henna powder from the market

Henna is a natural dye that is made from the plant Lawsonia inermis. Don’t worry! you don’t have to visit a garden to pluck the leaves of the plant Lawsonia. You just have to visit a nearby grocery shop where the mixture of the henna powder will be easily available. But the packet and bring it home. Make sure not to buy the black henna as it’s not made naturally and can be harmful to the skin.

Prepare the paste of henna

Now prepare the paste of the henna powder using warm water and adding some ingredients like coffee, gooseberry, beetroot, etc. (optional) to get the desired color. Keep the paste aside for a few hours (4-5hours).

Clean the surface of the skin

Clean the surface where you want to apply the henna. Use can even shave your skin well to give the henna tattoo a clean look. You can apply henna oils (available in the market) or any other natural oil before the application.

Transfer the henna 

Since your paste is ready, transfer it slowly into the tiny piping bags. Similar bags are used to decorate the cakes. Cut the tip slightly with the help of the scissor.

Apply the henna on the spot

Now apply the henna on the spot. You can google the various designs to get the ideas for the perfect results. You need to apply this henna for at least 12 hours to get the best results.

Application of a mixture of sugar and lemon juice 

When the henna starts drying, apply the mixture of sugar and lemon juice to get it wet for a longer duration of time. After the application of the mixture, when your henna starts drying out, bring the area near the stove, fire, or heater to let it get warm. Don’t over heart the surface, as you may start sweating and the mixture may get smudged off.

Apply vaseline or balm on the area

When the henna dries out naturally, apply the vaseline or balm and avoid getting in touch with the water for at least 24 hours. Your henna tattoo is ready. Remember, the results would be reddish-brown and not black since we have used natural henna and not chemically made black henna. This henna tattoo will last long for a few days but fades away after some time when the area of your tattoo will come in contact with the water.

Method 9. Using the toothpaste and ball pen

Requirements: 

  • Tattoo design
  • Black-inked gel pen
  • Toothpaste
  • Baby powder, talcum powder, or corn starch
  • Vaseline, balm, or petroleum jelly

Choosing the design of the tattoo: In every case, your initial step is to select the best design for yourself. You can go through several designs on the internet or can draw a design of your own choice. You can take the help of any friend or family member in choosing or drawing the best tattoo design for yourself. Clean the area wherever you want to apply the tattoo.

Apply the toothpaste: The next step in this method is to apply the small quantity of the toothpaste to the area where you want to have the temporary tattoo. The brand of the toothpaste doesn’t matter but the paste shouldn’t be gel-based. Take only a small amount of the toothpaste and rub it properly on the area so that it gets properly concealed on the skin.

Draw the design: Now with the help of a black-inked ball pen, draw the design on the area where the toothpaste was applied. You can also use pens of other colors if you want to have a colored tattoo on your body. If you are unable to draw, you can take the help of any friend or family member.

Apply baby powder or talcum powder: Apply some baby powder or talcum powder on the area where you have drawn the design with the help of a ball pen. Using a soft makeup brush or cotton pad, blend the powder well so that the pen’s ink gets stick to the skin.

Again draw the design: After using the powder, again re-draw the design on the existing one. This helps to stick the ink properly to the area of the skin. Follow this step twice or thrice.

Apply vaseline, balm, or petroleum jelly: Once the above steps are followed properly, apply vaseline, balm, or petroleum jelly on the surface of your temporary tattoo. This will help in increasing the life of the temporary tattoo on your skin. It will also help in giving your tattoos a proper neat and clean look and making them waterproof.

Testing with water: The last step to be followed is to check whether your tattoo is waterproof or not, and for that, pour a small quantity of water on the tattoo and try to rub it. You will notice that even after applying the water and rubbing on the surface, the tattoo will not smudge on the skin. This one of the best and easiest ways of getting waterproof temporary tattoos.

 

Method 10. Using pen, permanent marker, and toothpaste

In case of an emergency, follow the mentioned steps.

  • If you want to remove the tattoo before it naturally fades, you can do it by rubbing it with a cotton pad dipped in the rubbing alcohol.
  • If you face any severe allergic reaction, it’s best to consult a dermatologist.

Dos and don’ts of the temporary tattoos

Dos

  • Testing of the skin: Always test your skin before applying the temporary tattoos. Though these tattoos are convenient and easy to use still better to get your skin checked first before application. If you face any severe reaction, consult the dermatologists.
  • Cleaning: Clean the area well with the razor or waxing strips and exfoliate the skin well to get the desired best results since the natural oil or dirt present on the skin may act as a hindrance for the application. So clean it well so that your skin becomes smooth and dirt-free giving your tattoo a neat and clean look.
  • Henna tattoos: Henna tattoos work well where the skin is thick like hands and feet.
  • Baby powder and hair spray: The application of the baby powder or hair spray is very useful in keeping these tattoos for a longer period of time. You can also use talcum powder in case you don’t have the baby powder at your home.
  • Liquid bandage: You can also use a liquid bandage which is easily available at the nearby chemist shop to stick the ink to the skin.
  • Vaseline: The application of vaseline, balm, jelly, etc is useful to keep the tattoos stick to the skin.

Don’ts

  • No rush: Don’t hurry in choosing the design for the temporary tattoos. Sit patiently and go through the numerous options before choosing the final one. No doubt, you can modify and rub off the temporary tattoo in case you ain’t happy with the results.
  • No beauty products: Avoid the use of essential oils, body moisturizers, creams, scrubs, soaps, nail paint removers, and sanitizers on the area.
  • Clothes: Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes as the ink may get lighten due to rubbing off the cloth with the ink since it causes friction.
  • Workout: Avoid working out till the tattoo fades away naturally, as the sweat may smudge the ink on the skin.
  • No black henna: In the henna application, avoid using black henna as it contains harmful chemicals that may cause allergic reactions to the skin. Don’t apply water for at least 24 hours on the area where the henna is applied.
  • Allergies: Don’t inhale the baby powder or hair spray as it may cause some allergic reactions. If you already have an allergy or wound on the skin, try to avoid getting the temporary tattoos as this may worsen the condition.
  • Water: Avoid using water on the area of the tattoo.
