Making a temporary tattoo with a permanent marker is one of the easiest ways to get a fake tattoo since this method requires only a few easily available items. In this article, I shall explain the various methods which I have followed to get the temporary tattoos using the permanent marker. Let’s read further to begin your fun journey.

  • Cleaning is a very important step that has to be followed before applying the temporary tattoo. You can use a cotton pad or cleaning wipes for this purpose.
  • To give your tattoo a neat and clean look, shave the area before the application.
  • Selecting the best spot for a temporary tattoo is very important. The area of your body which comes in regular contact with water should be avoided.
  • In case of sensitive skin, avoid following the process.
  • Application of the tattoo on the areas where you already have any wound or scar should be avoided.

Method 1. Making a temporary tattoo with a permanent marker using the perfume

Requirements:

  • Sharpie/Permanent Marker
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Alcohol-based perfume
  • Scissor or cutter
  • Tracing paper
  • Baby Powder or hair spray

Selecting the design 

The initial step in every method of getting a temporary tattoo is to select a suitable design for yourself. You can go through numerous options online to choose the best one. If you already have an idea about the tattoo whichever you want to have, try to visualize it properly and draw it on a piece of paper so that it becomes easy for you to copy the design using the tracing paper.

Now, copy the design with the tracing paper using the permanent marker or sharpie. I recommended selecting a simple design since it becomes easy for you to copy it well.

Application of the perfume

Apply a small amount of the perfume on the spot. The application of the perfume should be done from at least 6 inches away from the spot.

Appy the tracing paper

Apply the tracing paper on the spot and press it for a few minutes (1-3minutes). After that, peel off the tracing paper from the skin. It should be done with a lot of patience so that the traced image doesn’t get smudged.

Using the permanent marker/sharpie

On the traced image formed on your skin, use the permanent marker or sharpie to draw the design.

Apply baby powder/talcum powder/cornflour 

Sprinkle the baby powder on your tattoo. If you don’t have the baby powder at your place, you can use any talcum powder or cornflour for your tattoo.

Method 2. Making a temporary tattoo with a permanent marker without using the perfume

If you don’t have the perfume or you are allergic to the perfume, you can follow this method to get a temporary tattoo with a permanent marker.

Requirements:

  • Sharpie/Permanent Marker
  • Design of the tattoo
  • Scissors or cuter
  • Tracing paper
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Baby powder or hair spray

The steps ‘selecting the design’ and ‘copying the design’ will remain the same as above.

Clean the spot

Always remember to clean the area well where you want to have your tattoo. You can either use rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad or cleaning wipes to clean your skin. For this method, I used cleaning wipes to clear off the dirt and oils.

Application of the tracing paper

Apply the tracing paper to the area and press for a few minutes. After that, peel off the tracing paper from the skin, you will notice a traced image of your tattoo on the spot.

Use the permanent marker

Now using the permanent marker, draw the tattoo on the traced image. Now apply the baby powder or talcum powder on your tattoo so that the ink of your tattoo gets stick to the area for a long duration. You can also use cornflour in case you don’t have the powder at your place. Don’t inhale the baby powder or talcum powder as it may cause some allergic reactions.

Your tattoo is ready!

Your tattoo is ready now. This may last for a few days if proper care is taken.

 

Method 3. Temporary tattoo with the permanent marker without tracing paper and perfume

If you neither have the perfume nor the tracing paper at your place, then you may follow this simple method of getting the temporary tattoo inked using the permanent marker.

The final and most important step of this method is to draw the design of the tattoo on your skin using a permanent marker. Don’t forget to clean your skin before the application by using rubbing alcohol on the cotton pad or cleaning wipes.
